In attempt to solve two major problems today- energy and water security- the Chief Minister of India has inaugurated The Canal Solar Power Project, which has spread across 11 districts. This project includes a 214MW Solar Power Park. In addition, there will be a 2.5 MW rooftops project in Gandhinagar, led by Azure Power (leading independent power producer in solar sector).
Gujarat State Electricity Corporation (GSECL) has developed 750m canal for the pilot project.
According to the Hindu Business Line...
"The pilot project will generate 16 lakh units of clean energy per annum and also prevent evaporation of 90 lakh litres of water annually from the canal, an official told Business Line here on Monday. The concept will, therefore, tackle two of the challenges simultaneously by providing energy and water security.
This also implies that 11,000 acres of land can be potentially conserved along with about 2,000 crore litres of water saved per annum."

Why don't we try this idea out in the US, and everywhere in the world? It excites me that we are finding ways to solve our environmental dilemmas. These are ways that will allow us to conserve our beautiful world and not rely on coal, oil, gas or other fuels.

Interesting fact:
Today we pay for and rely on electricity, even though electrical engineer, Nikola Tesla, invented free energy devices. However, they were destroyed by J.P. Morgan since he was not able to earn profit from it.
Who is Nikola Tesla? Read the article and watch the video below to learn about Tesla's discovery of free energy and to hear what happened to this electrical engineer.
